How exciting is it to start getting back into the swing of things?!
On Saturday, June 19th, we hosted our first in-person wine paired dinner post Covid-19. Our guests were so excited to finally attend an event, and without having to wear their masks! Team Trione was also grateful not to wear masks, since it was a beautiful, but toasty 100 degree day up here at our Home Ranch!
Guests of the dinner were greeted with the perfect wines to compliment the hot weather – Our 2016 Sparkling Brut and our newly released 2020 Rose of Pinot Noir. We hosted people in groups, as we’ve done for previous dinners, and everyone loved getting to catch up with our wine club members – and some new faces! After not being able to socialize in person over the last 15 months, the night was even more special than usual.
Chef Tim with Peloton Culinary & Catering crafted the perfect menu celebrating the beginning of Summer. Dinner started with a roasted corn and sausage chowder with Yukon gold potatoes, fennel, and Applewood smoked bacon. Guests could not stop raving about it and of course were begging for the recipe! We paired this with our 2017 Chardonnay, which perfectly highlighted the buttery creamy notes of the wine.
The second course was a spice seared Angus sirloin with Trione red wine glazed baby carrots, roasted delta asparagus, brown clamshell mushrooms, and a rich demi glace. The sirloin was juicy and cooked to perfection and could not have been a better pairing than with our 2016 Henry’s Blend.
Dessert was a Dry Creek peach cobbler with blueberry red wine reduction sauce and vanilla gelato. Uncle Timmy’s secret spice rub was used in the reduction sauce to give it a more savory flavor profile. We paired this with our 2014 library Primitivo, which really elevated the bright fruit notes in this flagship Trione wine.
As a special finish to the evening, Chef Tim had beautiful Earl Grey chocolate bon bons made that complimented our single varietal 2017 Petite Verdot. This was the favorite pairing of the dinner, and one of the best pairings we’ve tasted in a long time!
It was a magical evening that was the perfect gathering of friends and family eager to head into summer in good health with excitement, hope, and plenty of delicious Trione wine.
Join us for our next dinner, our annual Winemaker Dinner, on Saturday, August 21st!
