Chamomile as a Vineyard Cover Crop

Chamomile blooming among the vines in our Alexander Valley estate vineyard

Most notably known for producing an aromatic herbal tea producing calming qualities, chamomile is also an incredible cover crop used throughout our estate vineyards.

Not only is this delicate white and yellow bloom creating a colorful contrast to the awakening vines, but more importantly it is serving a vital role in preventing unwanted weeds, increasing biomass and attracting beneficial bugs to protect and serve the surrounding crops.

This self-seeding beauty will be mowed and tilled back into the soil replenishing much-needed nutrients that the vines will feed on as the fruit sets later in the Spring.
