Veraison – a Vineyard Update

Veraison has started and the first grapes for our sparkling wine are scheduled to come in right around August 19th.  We will be harvesting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, pressing that off and putting it into tank to go through fermentation. After fermentation, once our winemaker decides on the proper blend (typically 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir) , the wine will be transported to Rack and Riddle where it will be put into sparkling wine bottles where it will stay for 18 + months undergoing secondary fermentation. Secondary fermentation is the process where the natural carbonation is created by the yeast eating the sugar within that bottle.

The 2017 harvest is looking great so far, we are excited to start bringing in fruit! These photos are of the Pinot Noir block on our Russian River Ranch property where our Rose comes from.
