VinePair Review: 2019 Block 21 Cabernet Sauvignon
We are extremely honored to have our Block 21 Cabernet Sauvignon recently recognized as one of The 30 Best Cabernet Sauvignons for 2024 by VinePair. The 2019 vintage is listed among an incredible line-up of peers that we are proud to be in the company of. With a rating of 95 points, here is their review:
“Sonoma’s Alexander Valley is home to a different kind of California Cab, and the Trione family, who have been here since the ‘80s, know exactly how to hone in on this style. This bottle is stunning. It has bright fruit on the nose with the right amount of oak and a hint of earth. The palate is fleshy and so well balanced with excellent acidity and fruit that has just the right depth to match. The tannins have almost fully integrated and it’s aging wonderfully.”
Block 21 is a 3-acre block of Cabernet Sauvignon from our Cloverdale Ranch vineyard site in northern Alexander Valley. Situated with east-southeast exposure along the western flank of the Mayacama Mountain range, this block benefits from sandy clay loam soil composition with alluvial gravel deposits creating a fertile, well-draining environment for the vines to thrive in.
