2019 Block 21 Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley
The 2019 vintage is best described as remarkable. The growing season was nearly ideal for even ripening and optimum flavor development. Sonoma County experienced a few late rains in the month of May followed by a series of warm days that provided full fruit maturity across all vineyard sites and all varieties. The crop load was right where we wanted it and the mild fall weather patterns ripened the fruit to perfection.

Winemaking
This wine is a classic Bordeaux-style blend. It is composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 8% Merlot and 2% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. We hand-harvested and fermented each variety separately, then moved the wines to the barrel, where it aged for twelve months. Once we determined our blend, we returned the wine to the barrel for an additional twelve months, to ‘marry’ the varietals. We used tight grained French oak barrels exclusively for this wine.
Tasting Notes
The Trione 2019 Block 21 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful example of what Alexander Valley can produce. The region’s soil and the wines produced here are reminiscent of the Bordeaux region in France. This wine is classic in style; rich and vibrant with hints of black currant, raspberry, and blackberry notes on the nose. It’s silky on the palate, with a fine tannin structure and robust mid-palate which finishes long and smooth. Enjoy now and for years to come.
